ORIGIN Mosaic of different owners at the XIX century, then unified to some extent by M.LUCAS and finally by M.RIOS to make the present property: the descendants, M. and Mrs MARGOTEAU transmitted it in 2004 to Jean MALLET and Hervé ROMAT. Among the best terroirs Clay and Limestone on a slope south, and Clay Graveleux on a high plateau (85m), the vines have an average age of 40 years. Located on the north shore of the estuary of the Gironde, the vine it is established from the 1st century with the arrival of the Romans. The real development took place during the XIX th century, after the terrible attack of phylloxera, for structuring the properties and have a production quality wines comparable to that of our day. Jean MALLET & Hervé ROMAT We are the new owners of Chateau Grand-Maison, Cotes de Bourg, but already active in the profession for many years. Jean MALLET is the heir to a line of wine growers and during these 35 last years it Co-directed a family company; this acquisition constitutes a new qualitative challenge. Hervé ROMAT, comes also from a filiation of wine growers, but especially known as Consulting Enologist (www.herve-romat-conseil.fr) above all into Bordeaux’s region but also all other in France and abroad. This acquisition is not only one qualitative challenge but also the search for a new expression on the Côtes de Bourg.
