THE WINE The will of Jean MALLET and Hervé ROMAT is sumarized in itself with the acquisition of CHÂTEAU GRAND-MAISON, modest by the size but very interesting by the soil, with modern materials and technics; of sorting out vintage, of vinification, of selection and maturing with for the best expression of a kind idea of wine, by specific mineral flavours of this original soil, with a lot of fruits, florals and spiced expressions, giving tasting wines... as they are liked ! Wines of pleasure to share, as much for the “Grand Vin CHÂTEAU GRAND-MAISON”, than the Château Grand-Maison "Valades".
AN IDEA OF THE WINE It is a search for a "third way", between archaism and hyper technology, a way which makes it possible to keep the integrity of the wines: the search for an expression, a complexity, from fruity to spiced while passing by the floral one, but also of a certain minerality, a roundness with an extraction without excess, a length, with the right balance... search for a new personality in Côtes de Bourg ...
PRODUCTION All our wines result of a reasoned vine growing, a respect of the ground with greencovering, plant health treatments with the most respectful products of the vine of a manual collecting of the grapes, without any pumping with strong pressures, accompanied by a total traceability, thus guaranteeing best qualities for the greatest pleasure of tasting them, but also to drink them (with moderation). SOILS AND VINEYARD Among the best soils Chalky-Clay on a southern slope and Gravely-Clay on a hight table-land, vines of a average 40 years, with a density of 6 500 pieds/ha, produced low yield, and the wine grape of Merlot (90%) and Malbec and Cabernet ( 10 % ) allows one of the best specific expression of these soils.
